Welcome to the website of the International Chair on Interventional Cardiology and Transradial Approach (the “Chair”) of Université Laval (Québec City, QC, Canada). The Chair aims to promote research and education about the radial artery access for percutaneous diagnostic angiography and coronary and non-coronary interventions. It has placed high importance on building collaboration and exchanging learning between global health practitioners, researchers, educators, policy makers, and community advocates.

Founded in 2010,

as a Fund, the Chair attempts to realize its goals through the dedication of its members, partners and staff. The Chair is governed by an Executive Board of Directors.

The activities of the Chair are guided by a common set of values including:

  • A commitment to being a learning resource that builds on previous experience in the pursuit of excellence;
  • The belief that a synergy of efforts in partnerships guided by concrete objectives is the critical ingredient in achieving its mission;
  • A commitment to establishing partnerships on the principles of transparency, integrity and reciprocity.

This website is at the forefront of the Chair’s efforts. It was established to respond to the increasing worldwide need for advice and education about the best practices with radial artery access. It aims to be an international community-based resource developped by and offered to doctors, healthcare professionals, and patients.

Promoting development of an international network that allows for exchange of information and learning all related to the radial artery access that:

  • Improves health care quality
  • Improves patient’s comfort
  • Reduces health care costs
  • Provides information, tools and current knowledge about the radial artery access
  • Facilitates health and clinical research
  • Foster strategic alliances and collaborative endeavors
  • Promotes early detection, prevention, and management of procedure complications
  • Improves efforts to reduce health care disparities

Administrative Structure

Our administrative structure is composed of an Executive Board of Directors and 14 or so interventional cardiologists advisors from the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute (IUCPQ).
